¿Cómo agrego aceite al motor de mi vehículo?

¿Cómo agrego aceite al motor de mi Ford?

Ford recommends checking engine oil monthly for most vehicles. Learn how to properly check and add engine oil to your Ford vehicle with these step-by-step instructions.

Checking the Engine Oil Level

To see the oil level of your motor:

  1. Get a clean, lint-free cloth.
  2. Make sure that your vehicle is on level ground.
  3. Ensure your engine has been off for at least 15 minutes for the oil to drain into the oil pan.

Note: Checking the engine oil too soon or when your vehicle is on uneven ground could result in an inaccurate reading.

  4. Abre el capó y busca la varilla de medición de aceite. It is near the engine and usually has a brightly colored handle. If uncertain, refer to your vehicle's Owner's Manual for the exact location of the dipstick and fill location.
  5. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with the clean, lint-free cloth.
  6. Reinstall the dipstick and make sure it is fully seated.
  7. Remove the dipstick again to check the oil level.
  8. Read both sides of the dipstick and use the lowest oil level as the correct reading.

Note: If the oil level is between “MIN” and “MAX,” you do not need to add oil, and you can reinstall the dipstick and close the hood. If the oil level is at or below “MIN,” you will need to add oil now.

    • Add oil in small amounts, and never add oil past the dipstick's "MAX" level. Too much oil can cause engine damage.
    • Do not use supplemental engine oil additives because they are unnecessary and could lead to engine damage that the vehicle warranty may not cover.
  3. Wait a minute for the oil to drain into the pan.
  4. Repeat Step 2 until the dipstick shows oil at or just below the “MAX” mark.
  5. Reinstall the engine oil filler cap. Turn it clockwise until you feel strong resistance.
  6. Soak up any spilled oil with an absorbent cloth.

Note: Between changes, your vehicle’s oil level can drop a bit within the normal range. However, if it drops to the “MIN” mark or lower between oil changes, you should take the vehicle to your Concesionario Ford to have it diagnosed.
