How do I use MyKey with my Ford?

MyKey®* allows you to program keys with restricted driving modes to promote good driving habits. Puedes programar las restricciones para todas las llaves excepto una. Las llaves que no programes serán las llaves del administrador.

You can use admin keys to create, program, and remove a MyKey.

Using MyKey

Select what you would like to do from the drop-down options below for instructions. If you would like to learn more about MyKey settings, select the first drop-down option.

Learning MyKey Settings

MyKey Standard Settings

No todos los vehículos incluyen las características que se detallan a continuación. Si tu vehículo tiene este equipo, no puedes cambiar las siguientes configuraciones al usar MyKey:

  • Seatbelt reminder or Belt-Minder™: MyKey mutes the audio system until drivers, and in some instances, passengers, fasten their seatbelts.
  • Earlier low-fuel warning: The low-fuel warning activates earlier giving you more time to refuel.

  • Certain driver alerts, stability systems, or parking aids: MyKey turns them on automatically. For example, Sistema de Información de Punto Ciego (BLIS) con Alerta de Tráfico Cruzado, lane departure warning, o forward collision warning.

    Nota: Puedes desactivar la advertencia de salida del carril, aunque esta característica se vuelve a activar automáticamente con cada nuevo ciclo de llave.

  • Restricted touchscreen operation: For example, MyKey may prevent manual navigation destination input while the vehicle is in any gear other than park (P) or when the vehicle reaches a certain rate of speed.
  • Screened radio content: Satellite radio adult content restrictions, if this feature is available in your market.

MyKey Optional Settings

Puedes programar ciertas configuraciones de las características del vehículo cuando creas MyKey por primera vez. También puedes cambiar las configuraciones en otro momento con una llave del administrador.

Note: Not every feature applies to every vehicle in every market. Cuando están disponibles para tu vehículo, aparecerán en la pantalla de información, para brindarte opciones para activarlas o desactivarlas, o para seleccionar una configuración más específica.

  • Various vehicle speed limits so that you cannot exceed certain speeds: The information display shows warnings followed by an audible tone when the MyKey driver reaches the set speed. No puedes superar la velocidad establecida presionando completamente el pedal del acelerador.
  • Various vehicle speed reminders, so you know when your vehicle speed approaches the limits: Warnings appear in your information display and a tone sounds when you exceed the set vehicle speed.
  • Audio system's maximum volume limits to 45%: MyKey drivers can concentrate on the road. Aparece un mensaje en la pantalla de información cuando intentas superar el límite de volumen. MyKey también desactiva el control de volumen automático.
  • Always On setting: This setting forces certain features to remain on and active. Por ejemplo, E911 o la asistencia ante emergencia y la característica No molestar se mantienen activas incluso si usas el control de las características para desactivarlas. When selected, you will not be able to turn off Advance Trac or traction control, if equipped.

Cómo crear MyKey

To make a MyKey:

  1. Choose which of your keys will become your MyKey. The other will become an administrator key.
  2. Inserta la llave que deseas programar en el interruptor de encendido. If your vehicle is equipped with a push-button start, place the intelligent access key fob into the backup slot.
  3. Enciende el vehículo.
  4. Create a MyKey using:
    • The information display.
      1. Tap Settings.
      2. Select MyKey.
      3. Press Create MyKey.
      4. Hold the OK button until you see a message prompting you to label the key as a MyKey.
    • Your vehicle's SYNC screen (if equipped).
      1. Tap Settings.
      2. Choose Vehicle.
      3. Press MyKey.
      4. Select Create MyKey.
  5. Turn off your vehicle. The key will be restricted the next time it is used to start the vehicle.

Note: Make sure to label the MyKey so you can distinguish it from the admin keys.

Programming a MyKey

You can configure some vehicle feature settings when you first create a MyKey. You can also change the settings afterward with an admin key.

To program a MyKey:

  1. Switch the ignition on using an admin key.
  2. Tab through the information display using the OK or the > button on the steering wheel:
    1. Tap Settings.
    2. Press MyKey.
    3. Make your selections.
  3. Turn off the engine and remove the key fob. The programmed restrictions apply when you turn off the vehicle, open and close the driver's door, and restart your vehicle with the programmed key.

Notas:

  • Todas las MyKeys tienen la misma programación. No se pueden programar de manera individual.
  • MyKey functionality may vary with some models. Consulta tu Consulta el Manual del Propietario para encontrar información específica sobre tu vehículo. 
  • For vehicles equipped with a push-button start, when both a MyKey and an admin key are present, the vehicle will defer to the admin key's settings when switching on the vehicle.

Clearing MyKey Settings

You can use the information display or your vehicle's SYNC®** screen (if equipped) to clear your MyKey settings.

Importante: 

  • You can clear or change your MyKey settings as long as you do not turn off the vehicle after you create the MyKey.
  • Once you turn the vehicle off, you will need an admin key to change or clear your MyKey settings. If you do not have an admin key, you will need to purchase a new key from your Concesionario Ford. 

Delete a MyKey Using the Information Display

To remove your MyKey settings using the information display:

  1. Turn on your vehicle using an admin key. 
  2. Tab through the message center using the OK or the > button on the steering wheel:
    1. Tap Settings.
    2. Select MyKey.
    3. Press Clear MyKey.
    4. Hold the OK button until you see a message indicating that all MyKeys have been cleared.

Delete a MyKey Using the SYNC Screen

To remove your MyKey settings using the SYNC screen:

  1. Turn on your vehicle using an admin key.
  2. Toca Configuración en la pantalla SYNC de tu vehículo.
  3. Select Vehicle.
  4. Press MyKey and follow the instructions to clear MyKey. A confirmation message will appear in the display after you finish clearing your MyKeys.

 When you clear your MyKeys, you remove all restrictions and return all MyKeys to their original admin key status. You cannot remove the MyKey restrictions individually.
