How do I use Ford Assistant with SYNC?

Ford Assistant allows you to control your SYNC®* 4A- or SYNC 4-equipped vehicle using conversational requests. Once enabled, you can access this feature with the Push-to-Talk button on your vehicle's steering wheel and ask SYNC questions. 

Using Ford Assistant

Select your SYNC generation from the drop-down options below to learn how to turn Ford Assistant on or off and how to use commands.  If you need assistance determining the generation of your SYNC system, refer to the Guía de Referencia Visual de SYNC, which has example images of each SYNC generation.

SYNC 4A

Enabling or Disabling Ford Assistant

  1. Tap Settings from your vehicle's SYNC screen. If you see a Home icon instead, select the Home icon.
  2. Choose Ford Assistant.

  3. Toggle the Ford Assistant slider to enable or disable Ford Assistant. 

    Note: You can select the “i” icon to the right of the toggle for a brief description of Ford Assistant.

Using Ford Assistant

  1. Press the Push-to-Talk button on your vehicle's steering wheel. You can also say a wake word if it has been set up.

  2. Say your command or question when you see "Speak now" on your vehicle's SYNC screen. Ford Assistant will verbally answer with a response.

    Note: If you would like to check for recalls or service updates using Ford Assistant, ask: "Does this car have any recalls?"

    • Any open recalls or service updates will appear on the vehicle's SYNC screen. 
    • Once a recall has been completed, it will take a few days for the vehicle's memory to update that it has been completed.

  3. Select Connected Vehicle Features.

  4. Toggle the Ford Assistant slider to enable or disable Ford Assistant.
