Google Maps™ EV Routing for Android Auto™* enables all-electric Ford drivers to seamlessly project Google Maps on their in-vehicle infotainment screen. Key features optimized for electric vehicles include:
- Auto-suggested charging stops, including multi-stop routes.
- Estimated time of arrival, including charge times.
- Battery on-arrival estimate for all route stops.
- Tesla Superchargers, included within routing.
- En-Route Preconditioning to ensure peak charging performance.
- A list of nearby amenities at charging stops.
- Dynamic Charger Filtering by speed, charging network, and more.
Google Maps EV Routing is only available on Android devices connected via Android Auto for the Mustang Mach-E® and F-150® Lightning®.
Note: Google Maps EV Routing requires both the latest version of Google Maps available in the Play Store and the 10.1.0 Ford Software Update for your vehicle.
Using Google Maps EV Routing for Android Auto
Select from the options below to learn more about using Google Maps EV Routing with your Ford.
Searching for a Destination
Use Google Maps by typing into the search bar, viewing previously saved destinations, or browsing by destination categories.
Select your destination. A preview of the route displays along with the estimated time of arrival, charge level, and suggested charge stops.
Note: Your estimated charge level may display a negative number if your vehicle requires a charge stop along the journey.
- Press the Start button to begin your route.
Replacing Suggested Charge Stops
- Select your destination. A preview of the route displays with suggested charge stops.
Tap the Replace button on the route preview.
Note: If your route has multiple stops listed, the option to replace displays only after you start the route. It is located under the teardrop icon.
Select an alternative charger from the list of chargers along your route.
Tap the Select stop button.
Deleting a Suggested Charge Stop
- Select your destination. A preview of the route displays with suggested charge stops.
Tap the Delete icon to remove the stop.

Can I use Google Maps EV Routing with my Apple Device?
No. Apple users can use Apple Maps EV Routing with Apple CarPlay with their Apple device.
How does Google Maps know my battery level?
Ford worked with Google to develop communications between your vehicle and your Android device. However, the battery level will only update when your Android device is connected to your vehicle via Android Auto.
Can Google Maps precondition my vehicle's battery for Fast Charging?
Yes, Google Maps EV Routing will trigger automatic preconditioning of your vehicle's battery as it approaches a known DC Fast Charger. For more on battery preconditioning, see: How do I precondition my battery for DC Fast Charging?
I have my Ford Fast Charging Adapter. Can Google Maps route me to compatible Tesla Superchargers?
Yes, Google Maps EV Routing can automatically route your vehicle to compatible Tesla Superchargers. If you have your Fast Charging Adapter, you can enable this feature by taking the following steps:
- Search for a charger in Google Maps.
Tap the Settings icon, then Compatible Plugs.
Toggle the NACS slider to on.
Your routes will now show suggested chargers that may require the Fast Charging Adapter, including Tesla Superchargers.
What features are unavailable in Google Maps that are normally available with Connected Navigation?
The following features are available with Connected Navigation on your in-vehicle touchscreen, but unavailable in Google Maps:
- Verifying whether a charging station is part of the Red de Carga BlueOval™
- Verifying whether a charging station supports Plug & Charge
