Description

On your vehicle, it may be possible that the material composition of the passenger side rear axle shaft is incorrect and does not meet Ford specifications.

Safety Risk

The passenger side rear axle shaft may fracture. This can subsequently result in a loss of drive power and the inability to hold the park function. If the parking brake is not applied, this could result in unintended vehicle movement or rollaway, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Remedy

Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect the rear passenger side axle shaft flange and replace the axle shaft, as needed, free of charge (parts and labor).

Description

On your vehicle, the rear view camera could display a blank or distorted image on the center display screen when the vehicle is in reverse. You may also receive a message that the rear view camera is unavailable on the center display screen.

Safety Risk

A rear view camera that displays a blank or distorted image while in reverse can reduce or distort the drivers view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle, if needed. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to inspect the rear view camera operation and replace the camera if necessary, free of charge.

Description

On your vehicle, the driveshaft flexible coupling may crack resulting in driveline noise and vibration. Continued driving with a cracked flexible coupling may cause separation of the driveshaft. This safety recall (19S38) supersedes safety recall 17S15 (NHTSA recall 17V-408).

Safety Risk

When the driveshaft separates, you may lose motive power while driving, and the transmission may not hold the vehicle in park creating the risk of unintended vehicle movement. In addition, a separated driveshaft can damage surrounding components, including brake and fuel lines. A driveshaft separation creates the risk for crash, fires, and injury.

Remedy

Parts are available to perform permanent repairs. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to perform the permanent repair. As a permanent repair, your dealer will replace the front driveshaft section and install a universal joint free of charge (parts and labor). Unless the permanent repair is complete, Ford does not recommend driving your vehicle over 40,000 miles on the driveshaft flexible coupling.

Description

Your dealer installed a torsional damper service kit on your dual rear wheel vehicle that was not intended for use on dual rear wheel vehicles. The kit may cause abrasion of the parking brake cable. Over time, abrasion of the parking brake cable could result in cable failure.

Safety Risk

If the parking brake cable fails, the parking brake will no longer function to hold the vehicle in place, creating the risk of unintended vehicle movement.

Remedy

Parts are now available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to replace the passenger side parking brake cable free of charge parts and labor.

Description

For vehicles equipped with a trailer tow module, water intrusion into the module and connector could cause wiring corrosion and damage to the module.this may result in rapid flashing of the turn signals, loss of the instrument cluster display, loss of heater and air conditioning controls, and loss of multimedia (radio, screens, SYNC). Wiring corrosion from prolonged water intrusion could also result in an electrical short to ground, which could cause an uncommanded seat belt pretensioner deployment, a burning smell and/or an increased risk of fire, including when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is off.ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition.ford is aware of two reports of vehicle fire on canadian fleet vehicles potentially related to this condition.

Safety Risk

An electrical short to ground in the module can overload the ground wire circuit, increasing the risk of overheated or melted wiring and fire.

Remedy

Parts are available to repair your vehicle. Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to add a drainage hole in the drivers footwell and, if necessary, add an inline fuse to the trailer module free of charge parts and labor.
