How do I accept software updates for my Ford vehicle?

You can accept software updates by selecting Continue when prompted on your vehicle's screen. This will take you to the Software Update menu, where you can complete the acceptance process.

If either of the following icons appears on your vehicle's screen, you need to accept a software update.

Software Update Available and Requires Scheduling icon. Hay una actualización disponible pero se tiene que programar.
Software update Available but Needs Your Permission icon Hay disponible una actualización pero necesita tu permiso para continuar.

Accepting Software Updates

Select your SYNC®* generation or Digital Experience from the drop-down options below to learn how to accept software updates.

Digital Experience de Ford

Option 1

  1. Tap the Update Available icon in the status bar on your vehicle's Digital Experience screen.
  2. Select Update to accept the update.

Option 2

  1. Tap on the App Drawer icon.
  2. Select Software updates.
  3. Press Update Details.
  4. Tap Update to accept the update

Important: If Automatic Updates and Notifications are off, your vehicle will not receive any updates. This means your vehicle will not receive any new features or critical updates via software updates.

SYNC 4A

Option 1

  1. Tap the Update Available icon in the status bar on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Update to accept the update.

Option 2

  1. Tap the Settings or the Home icon on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Software Updates.
  3. Press Update Details.
  4. Tap Update to accept the update.

Important: If Automatic Updates and Notifications are off, your vehicle will not receive any updates. This means your vehicle will not receive any new features or critical updates via software updates.

SYNC 4

Option 1

  1. Tap the Update Available icon in the status bar on your vehicle's SYNC screen.
  2. Select Update Available.
  3. Press Update to accept the update.
