Building vehicles you can count on is one of our most important jobs, which is why Ford has issued a safety recall for some 2021-2022 Bronco®, Edge®, Explorer®, and F-150® vehicles equipped with 2.7L and 3.0L engines.
The engine intake valves may crack and break, which could result in a loss of motive power and increase the risk of a crash.

What is the issue tied to this safety recall?
The engine intake valves in affected vehicles may crack and break, causing the vehicle to lose motive power. Prior to losing motive power, an engine malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate in the cluster and the driver may notice that the vehicle is running rough. A loss of motive power can increase the risk of a crash.
What is the cause of the issue?
Due to a localized material hardness issue, the engine intake valves may crack and break.
When will the repair be available?
The repair is expected to become available in the first quarter of 2025.

Dealers will inspect each vehicle to determine its cumulative number of engine cycles. For vehicles that have not reached the engine-cycle threshold, dealers will perform a service procedure to accumulate additional engine cycles at high revolutions per minute (RPMs). Engines will be replaced on vehicles that do not pass the engine-cycle accumulation procedure.
When will you notify customers?
Ford expects to begin sending letters to customers in the fourth quarter of 2024.
