The Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of a vehicle is the Base Curb Weight plus actual Cargo Weight and passengers. GVW is not a limit or specification, it is the actual weight that is obtained when the fully loaded vehicle is driven onto a scale.
The GVW must not exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), which can be obtained from the Requesting a Door Jamb Safety Compliance Certification Label located on the driver's door, commonly referred to as the Door Jamb Label.
