How do I request a Compliance Letter for my Ford?
For vehicles built for sale in the United States or Canada, a Compliance Letter certifies that the vehicle met all U.S. EPA and Department of Transportation safety and emissions requirements at the time of manufacture.
Drafted on Ford stationery, these letters may fulfill requirements of the state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) or foreign country requirements concerning a vehicle's origin or flexible-fuel usage. If this documentation is required, and you are a resident of the United States, contact our Customer Relationship Center at 800-392-3673. When calling, please have your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) available.
If you purchased a Ford chassis, you may also need a Compliance Letter from any companies that did upfits to your vehicle. This would include alternate fuel, body, and other upfits. You will need to contact companies who have made modifications directly to procure any additional compliance letters as Ford cannot provide these.
- If your vehicle was built for use in countries other than the U.S. and Canada, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website for a list of registered importers.
- If you are a Canadian resident, contact the Ford of Canada Customer Relationship Center at 800-565-3673.
