How do I request a Certificate of Origin for my Ford?

Certificate of Origin for New Vehicles

Como fabricante de vehículos motorizados nuevos, Ford Motor Company debe emitir un Certificado de Origen del Fabricante cuando produce un vehículo. This document enables a U.S. Ford Dealer to transfer ownership of a new vehicle to a customer for titling and registration purposes. At the time of sale, dealers will include the Certificate of Origin in the packet sent to the state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to register a vehicle.

Replacement Certificate of Origin

A Certificate of Origin is produced only once at the time of manufacture. If you are looking for a Certificate of Origin, first visit your original selling dealer or your state's DMV because they might have an available copy. If a copy is unavailable through your dealer or the DMV, contact our Customer Relationship Center at 1-800-392-3673 to purchase a Compliance Letter.  Drafted on Ford stationery, these letters may fulfill requirements of your state's DMV or foreign country requirements concerning a vehicle's origin if the vehicle was produced to meet U.S. Federal Safety and Emissions standards in effect at the time of manufacture.

Compliance Letters are only available for model years newer than 1967 and cannot be issued for the purpose of certifying a vehicle's eligibility under the preferences and benefits of any Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
