What is the Ford Rear Occupant Alert System?

The Rear Occupant Alert System* is a safety feature that alerts the driver to check the back seat of the vehicle for occupants after the ignition is turned off.

Using the Rear Occupant Alert System

Four-Door Vehicles

To trigger the Rear Occupant Alert System in a vehicle with four doors, perform these steps within 15 minutes before starting your vehicle.

  1. Open the rear door of the vehicle.
  2. Buckle the rear seat belt.

    Note: If the vehicle's Child Seat Installed option is enabled, the rear seat belt buckling step is not needed.
     
  3. Close the rear door.
  4. Turn the vehicle ignition on.

Two-Door Vehicles

To trigger the Rear Occupant Alert System in a vehicle with two doors, perform these steps within 15 minutes before starting your vehicle.

  1. Abre la puerta del lado del conductor.
  2. Buckle the rear seat belt.

    Note: If the vehicle's Child Seat Installed option is enabled, the rear seat belt buckling step is not needed.
     
  3. Cierra la puerta del lado del conductor.
  4. Turn the vehicle ignition on.
