Why is my Vehicle Location not working in the Ford app?

If your vehicle's location is not updating, the location is not showing, or the incorrect address is displaying, use the following troubleshooting steps.

Important: Ford Motor Company is not able to track or disable vehicles. We recommend contacting your local police department regarding stolen vehicles.

Vehicle Location is Not Updating 

  1. Navigate to the Vehicle screen of the Ford app.
  2. Press the Refresh button (circular arrow) on the top-right corner of your screen.

Notas:

  • The Ford app should display the most recent time and address in the Vehicle Location section under the map.
  • You can refresh your vehicle's location up to 3 times at 30-second intervals each time.
  • If the message "Refresh failed. May be due to poor vehicle connectivity." appears, it may be a symptom of a larger issue, such as a non-communicating modem.
  • Verify if your other remote commands are working, such as:
    • Remote Start*
    • Lock and Unlock**
  • If your other remote commands are successful but your vehicle's location refresh continues to fail, please select to contact Ford app support for additional assistance. 

Vehicle Location Details 

  • Vehicle Location history is not available.
  • Vehicle Location is disabled while the vehicle is in motion. 

Unable to Locate Your Vehicle

  1. Ensure that you have allowed the required app permissions in your vehicle's location settings.
    1. Android™ Settings: Select Settings > Apps & Notifications. Scroll down and select Advanced > Permissions Manager > Location.
    2. Apple® Settings: Select Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
  2. Ensure Vehicle Location is enabled in your Connectivity Settings menu. See the Customer Connectivity Settings Overview topic for additional information. 

Incorrect Location Showing 

If your vehicle's location is incorrect, please select to contact Ford app support for additional assistance.
