How do I set up Phone As A Key with the Ford app?
You can set up Phone As A Key™* by following the prompts in the Vehicle dashboard in the Ford app. After activating and connecting to your vehicle modem, use the steps below to get started.
Phone As A Key Requirements
To use Phone As A Key, you must meet the requirements below.
- The Ford app is downloaded to your device, you have an active account, and you are logged in.
- Your vehicle is added to the Ford app and Phone As A Key is available for your vehicle.
- Facial recognition, fingerprint recognition, or a passcode is set up on your mobile device.
- Your Vehicle Connectivity Settings are enabled.
- Your vehicle modem is activated.
- Your phone's Bluetooth® is enabled and running version 4.2 or greater.
- You have a supported mobile device running:
- iOS® 16.0 or later.
- Android™ 8.0 or later.
Setting up Phone As A Key
- Log in to the Ford app.
- Ensure you have the correct vehicle selected (if you have more than one vehicle added to the Ford app), then tap Make this phone a key at the top of the app screen.
Select Pair Device.
Note: A prompt for Bluetooth access may appear, depending on your phone's manufacturer.- If it does, tap Allow to continue Phone As A Key setup.
- If you select Deny, the setup process will end, and you will not be able to use Phone As A Key.
- Tap Pair device to continue. The key download will begin.
Note: If you tap Don't Allow, the setup process will end.
- Follow the remaining prompts to complete your Phone As A Key setup.
